A Hi-Desert Story Worth Telling!

Ethan Ocampo, is an Yucca Valley artist, cartoonist, multimedia creator, and storyteller. His story is one that has grown right here in the Hi-Desert. From a young artist with a pencil and an imagination to someone who has had the opportunity to become involved in local art, journalism, podcasting, and community media. His creative journey has taken him through Yucca Valley High School, Copper Mountain College, the Cacti Chronicles, the CMC Board of Trustees, Area 62, the Yucca Valley Film Festival, and the Hi-Desert Star. Each experience has helped shape the person and artist he is today. One of the earliest milestones in his artistic journey happened on January 19, 2018, when his artwork “Moonlight of the Desert” won Second Place at a Yucca Valley High School student art show held at the 29 Palms Art Gallery. At the time, he was simply a young artist who loved creating pictures and expressing ideas through art. Winning that award showed him that something he created with his own hands could connect with other people. Looking back, that moment became one of the first stepping stones toward the creative path he's still following today.
